SEECP PA delegation held a joint meeting with European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs

On 21 March 2016 in Brussels Delegation of the South-East European Cooperation Process Parliamentary Assembly, headed by its President Ms. Tsetska Tsacheva, Speaker of the National Assembly, Sofia held a joint meeting with the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs. The meeting was dedicated to exchange of views on parliamentary cooperation and situation in the region.
 
The SEECP PA was represented by parliamentarians from Ankara, Athens, Bucharest, Chisinau, Prishtina, Tirana and Sarajevo.

In her speech at the meeting the President of SEECP PA Ms Tsacheva outlined the main challenges that the SEE region faces and the importance of enhanced cooperation and permanent mechanism for interaction between the Parliamentary Assembly and the European Parliament.  The Speaker of the National Assembly underlined the need for new policies with a clear vision for the region and its European prospects. In support of this Tsetska Tsacheva presented the position of SEECP PA to achieve common European rules and regulations to ensure sustainable tackle of migration issues. Bulgarian Parliament Speaker pointed out energy and transport connectivity, the creation of a liberalized energy market, and the construction of priority transport corridors as top priorities for both the EU and the region of Southeast Europe.
 
SEECP PA delegation and the members of the European Parliament expressed their readiness to engage into parliamentary dialogue on current European issues as well as to strengthen the role of the SEECP PA and inter-parliamentary cooperation in responding to current challenges for SEECP and EU countries.
